Volunteer !

CCF is unique in that it forwards its mission through the combined efforts of citizens, agency representatives, and local policy-makers. Citizen and agency volunteers are integral to the functioning and decision-making of CCF. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to identify and address community needs, inform your community of available resources, network with local human service agencies, organizations, and voluntary associations, and recommend solutions to the challenges facing our communities' children and their families.

What would I do as a volunteer?

CCF volunteers generally serve on one of CCF's work groups and/or sub-committees. Work Groups and sub-committees meet to examine issues in their target areas, to propose and/or fulfill projects as defined by their group or by the Commission, and to make recommendations to the Commission.

What is the time commitment?

Each work group and sub-committee sets its own meeting and work schedule. Some groups meet regularly--monthly, bimonthly, biweekly--and some groups meet on an as-needed basis which can be as frequent as twice a week over a short period of time or as infrequent as four times in a single year. In general, CCF seeks volunteers willing to commit for a duration of at least one year, although the time commitment requirement does vary.

How do I get started?

1. Check the Openings: Current volunteer openings are listed in the green box at the left. If you are interested in volunteering but aren't sure which area matches your interests, please call and we would be happy to discuss the workgroups.

2. Investigate the Work Group(s): Visit the Work Groups page to see which work group--of those currently seeking volunteers--covers an area which most interests you. Then visit the individual work group pages to learn more about those work groups and their sub-committees. To find out more about these work groups, contact the CCF office via e-mail or phone.

3. Submit an Application: Fill out the volunteer application form, and mail or fax it to the CCF office. You may also send your responses in the form of an e-mail.

4. Talk with CCF: After reviewing your application, CCF staff will contact you to talk with you and to connect you with the chair or staff person of that work group. You may also call Linda Rahman at 434-872-4561 if you have questions.
